Well Ellie is now 10 weeks old, and we can not believe it. I remember the first couple weeks, I was so worried because she never wanted to be awake! At the hospital, they pound into your skull that the baby must eat every 3 hours, so I was worried that she wasn't getting enough, because she would not wake up! I asked several friends and family members for advice and I was told to just relax, she would wake if there was something wrong or she needed to eat. I recall my sister saying, "She definitely will not starve, believe me" I took the advice and was surprised that she was already a completely different baby by the following week, SHE WAS EATING LIKE A HORSE! HaHa... That is what has been so much fun throughout this whole journey thus far, things are always changing.
Ellie's most recent achievements are smiling and laughing, and she even did her first push up yesterday! (Ok, it may not have been up to Coach Daddy's standards, but it was the baby push up that is a gross motor milestone they should reach by 3 months old) I was so proud! I have also noticed that she not only "bats" at toys, she actually tries to grab at them! New this week, is her "ability" to be frightened by things. Auntie Sonya came over on Tuesday and was playing, making silly faces and Ellie must not have liked something that was going on cause she started to wail, a few days later I was holding Ellie and I turned on the blender and got the same response, and just last night, I was undoing some Vel-cro on Ellie's swaddle sack and frightened her again. It might be bad to say this, but her little face is so cute when she's mad, her little lips get all pouty and I can't help but want to take a picture. Sorry Ells! Ellie cannot stand tummy time, but we continue to do it at least once a day so that she can continue to grow in the gross motor domain (being a PE teacher, I can't let her fall behind in this area, come on!). We are currently hoping to see her roll from tummy to back soon. She loves to look at herself in the mirror as well.
Overall we are so, so blessed with a happy, easy, HEALTHY baby. People always ask the cookie cutter questions, "Are you getting any sleep?" "Is she a good baby?" "Are you hanging in there with breastfeeding" Well, my answers are YES, YES, and YES. Of course there are good days and bad, energized mornings and mornings where I feed her with only one eye open, but I am alive, and I couldn't be more happy. I know every new parent says this, but it truly is amazing how you can love someone so much. She is so beautiful, and we are so lucky.
I started taking weekly pictures of her every Tuesday, here they are! I started a little late (at 3 weeks) but you can see how much she's changed!
Look at her grow! Go Ellie, Go! I love this blog, what a great idea!!! (That I might steal to send to family members across the country!) Ellie's so lucky to have you guys as her parents.... well, you are all so lucky to have eachother. xo
