9 months now!

Thought I better do a post before we get into the double digit months...

Well Ellie is just amazing as always. I don't have too much to report on, but she has been doing some pretty cool things lately. I am not sure if I have mentioned it before, but she is a huge fan of clapping her hands. She gets so excited when she does it and it is so cute to watch. We are working on waving "bye" now, and she is doing it here and there.

Last Sunday night, while we were hanging out at home and Ellie was standing around (all day haha) I decided to try to see if Ellie would walk with her little push cart toy. I placed the toy in front of her and helped her to stand up and hold on, then I held the front of the cart loosely so that she could push it, but not so hard that she would fall flat on her face. I let her push it and walk about 5 feet with me holding on, and she did fine. Next, I turned her around and pointed her towards Paul, and I let go of the cart. She took off! She looked like a little old granny pushing a shopping cart, and she was making the most funny sounds, but she just walked across the entire living room pushing the cart. It was so fun! So now all week we have been having her walk with her little cart each day. She is becoming more brave about standing as she is starting to let go of the couch or whatever it is she is holding onto, and she is able to stand about 5 seconds before grabbing back on or falling on her tush.

One more really incredible thing that Ellie has started to do is recognize different objects. I did not know this, but Krizia, Ellie's nanny, told me one morning that Ellie can differeniate certain objects by pictures. We have these sign language flash cards that have the sign on one side, and the picture of the object on the other, and Krizia has been using the cards for a while with Ellie now. What she will do is take two of the cards and place them in front of Ellie, and then she will ask "Ellie, which one is the cat?" and Ellie will hand her the correct card!!! I didn't believe it, and then I thought maybe it was a coincidence, but then I saw her do it multiple times, and I even "quizzed" Ellie myself a couple times!!! The objects that Ellie is able to recognize are cat, milk, banana, baby, and flower. I think that the Baby Signing Time DVDs also helped in this area, because these objects are featured in the DVD as well. However, I think this is just amazing! Krizia asked me for pictures of everyone in my family so that she can start working on names and faces with Ellie, and I thought that was a great idea, so that's what we will be working on in the next couple weeks.

Well thats about it for now. I feel like I don't even have a baby anymore. She is becoming such a big girl so fast. She rarely holds still enough for anyone to get any love out of her anymore, so when I put her down at night I just hold her for a little bit longer than I'm used to because I just miss when she would lay there and let me hold her all day. She is on the move and she is independent, don't you get in her way!!!
